Jessica's Adventure

Studying Abroad in Hong Kong

Tropical weather, great food, and an amazing cultural experience...These are just some of the many reasons I traveled about 8,000 miles from the relatively rural Western Massachusetts to the fast paced international city of Hong Kong. I arrived in late August to study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where I am took Cantonese and basic business courses as well as being a teaching assistant for an English journalism editing class.

As if academics and work wasn't enough (but truthfully they never are for me), I am also studing Northern Shaolin kung fu with the United College Martial Arts Society, fencing with the Union Fencing Club, and learning how to do the traditional lion dance in Fortress Hill.

I'm attempting to explore Hong Kong little by little and travel to other parts of Asia. I took five-day tours of Beijing, Thailand, and Japan and hopefully will take a couple more trips before returning to the States.

I have hundreds of pictures that I still need to upload, and I'm going to try to add pictures and update the site whenever I can steal a bit of free time. However, because I'm basically teaching myself HTML using the good ole trial and error method coupled with the new found realization that working on a website can be rather addicting (yes I'm a dork) and can eat up lots of time...this might be a slow process. So feel free to check back at your leisure to see what I've been up to.
